Ye Corky Medieval Festival

Thither art a few things i cannot intermit in this ordinary. i cannot intermit the promiseth of mead, a possible peasant revolt, and the ability to weareth a coronet whenev’r possible.

You’re probably wondering a few things right now. What the hell did Tipsy just say? How did she say it? (Translator Baby) And…why is she talking like that?

Puppets!

It’s that time of the year again for the Raglan Shire to get their medieval on. September is a month full of ratpops, castles, things that make you feel like you walked into a ren faire mixed with Monty Python (Not a bad thing), and the possibility of finding various foods on sticks. (I happened to find a waffle, pancake, cookie, AND nachos on a stick.)

Oh This? It's My Summer Home.

Oh This? It’s My Summer Home.

This is the 8th Annual Raglan Shire Medieval Festival and it does not feel stale like many reoccurring yearly Second Life affairs. Every year, from the various events  to the decor, it gives you a feeling of ye ol’ days gone by mixed with the silly fun that only the residents of the Shire can provide.

Artwalk 2014 Is HERE!

The Raglan Shire Artwalk 2014 is officially upon us!  I get excited each year when the artwalk comes around because it shows that not only can residents in the virtual world of Second Life come together to showcase their creations but people from all walks of the grid converge on the Shire to share their appreciation of art.  This is a large yearly event that has over 140 artists that is not just for the folks of the Raglan Shire but the entire grid itself. Big, small, furry, or whatever you are it’s all about the art.

artwalk1

The artwalk spans over six areas so there is a lot to see. I recommend checking out the handy-dandy maps you’ll see around the Shire so you’ll know where everything  is. (3d & 2d art as well as sculptures and everything arty)

artwalk4

I live in as well as have the Raglan Report Office in Morning Shire and it was an absolute pleasure to be able to walk just a few steps down the Shire path to see some of the best art shared by so many people.

You never know what you’ll run into at art walk. As I wandered around admiring so much talent a caterpillar passed on by with a few riders.

Giddyup!

There is so much amazing art going on that I cannot possibly share it all with you. I HIGHLY recommend you come and check out the talent of so many people, pick up some free artwalk swag at the Tree Stump Swag Area, as well as check out the Shire’s Calendar of events for various art related parties/performances/etc.

Tiny Talent Big Fun

One of the greatest events….

Yes..I am using the word “greatest” because I honestly feel it is….

in Second Life is happening this weekend.

No..it’s not a club holding a “best in red” event. No…it doesn’t involve shopping.

On Saturday November 30th at 1pm SLT the tinies of the Raglan Shire are holding a Talent Show. I absolutely LOVE the talent show because it’s so much fun to see Second Life residents come together & share the things that they do best.

Last year we saw death-defying feats, singing, storytelling, fiddle playing spiders & so much more. (You can watch the video highlighting last years talent show on youtube.) I actually sang a blues song that Bishop & I wrote together. I’m signed up to perform this year & I hope, with the holiday & visitors, that I’ll still be able to perform with Bishop in this years show.

showvemberts

It is really worth checking out because it has to be one of my favorite events of the year. Instead of people using some sort of “woooooo” gesture while dancing around in a club we get to see the people behind the avatar using their real talents.

Just like Sesame Street taught us it doesn’t matter what you do or how you sound because everyone is welcome to watch or participate.

So…This Saturday November 30th in the Raglan Shire don’t miss the Talent Show from 1-3pm SLT. It’s well worth it.

*The landmark to the talent show doesn’t come out until Saturday before the show. You can go to the Shire & find your way to the Talent Show, Check The Friends Of The Raglan Shire group, or ask any tiny you see for directions.  You can always hit me up in-world for a landmark that day if needed.

Showvember 2013

Showvember has once again descended upon the Raglan Shire. This time of the year (starting with Shocktober) is my favorite time of the year in the Shire. We go from the haunted spooky look to the fall look to Winterfest  & it actually makes me excited for the holidays.

Look! A Turkey!

Look! A Turkey!

Thanks Shire!

Showvember is full of wonderful events & shows throughout the month. Studio BAM, Fashion Show, & a Talent Show are just a few of the things you’ll see throughout the month.

Besides the various activities you’ll see (Check out their events calendar) there are signs of fall everywhere. Pies to bounce on, turkeys running around, leaves to run through. My personal favorite is the Shire giraffe that runs wild only stopping for a moment to either run you over or run away from you. Personally I think he’s evil (You can get a sign that I made saying he’s evil at my in-world office)

showvembersla2

I also want to mention that there is a giant TARDIS in the middle of the Shire? Why is the Doctor in the Shire? Why is the TARDIS so big? To go along with the 5oth Anniversary of Doctor Who Whovember has come & brought a giant TARDIS along with it.

EXTERMINATE..The Peacock!

EXTERMINATE..The Peacock!

As the month goes on I’ll write all about the Shire’s Fashion Show, Talent Show, Studio BAM, & so much more that is going on in this busy month. Till then have fun wandering around, checking out the larger than life Tardis, & soaking up the Autumn atmosphere.

Get Your Costume On!

Halloween is almost here!

AHHHH!

OK. Don’t panic if you don’t have your virtual Halloween costume ready this year. Here are a few that I have found that might help you make it to your trick or treating party blowout on time.

1. Cirrus Design – LJ Witchy Outfit With Bat Broom (75L)

Witchy Puppeh!

Witchy Puppeh!

I LOVE this witches costume! It comes with everything you need from pointy hat to little broom. The broom emits bats but you can turn them off if needed by clicking the broom.

2. Halloween Ghost Avatar – 1L On Marketplace

Boo And Stuff

Boo And Stuff

You can click on the ghost to change it size as well as make it disappear in open chat. It’s not too bad for 1L. There are a few things that you’ll need to do to it to make it work for you. Size it to fit (I recommend using a full body alpha to make yourself invisible. Easier to hide your body parts) & you’ll need an AO if you don’t feel like duck walking around.

3. Totally Tinies – Your Head On A Plate!/On A Stick! (50L)

Oh Nooooo!

Oh Nooooo!

There is nothing out that can make you laugh while looking freaky as much as being a head on a plate or on a stick.

shocktobercostume2

It’s a super easy costume to put on (Read The Directions! It’s Easy!) & will make you giggle as you wander around trying to scare people.

4. Horror Doll Outfit – 10L On Marketplace (Mesh)

I Didn't Do It!

I Didn’t Do It!

It’s not a bad outfit. Comes with the dress, blood, hair bow, knife, & thigh high socks. It’s a pretty decent outfit for the price. With the number of outfit changes some of us make throughout the entire month of October we need quality for low prices.

I hope that these costume ideas help you out as you bounce from virtual Halloween party to party!

Trick Or Treat Smell My Feet

Every year I like to try & find places in Second Life that offer some sort of traditional feel to trick or treating. A virtual experience where you dress up in a costume, go door to door, & get candy. As an adult we no longer get that fun.

Living in the country you’d have to walk miles to even attempt to trick or treat.

This year I was disappointed because there really wasn’t a large amount of trick or treat anything. There are a lot of hunts that are calling themselves trick or treating but it’s not the same thing. There is no prim bowl of candy for you to pretend to munch on. I did, however, find at least two places to talk about today. One with a sort of traditional trick or treat feel while the other one really had no treats.

1. Halloween Trick Or Treating & Activities (Newfoundland Estates) (G): This is a really well put together advertisement to get you to stay at the NFL (not the football NFL) estates. It has a lot of information on why you should rent, how you can rent, what they offer but it’s actually kinda cute. It looks nice & it actually has you walking around from little house to little house collecting your candy. If you can get past the advertising & the fact that the area is small it’s not a bad visit.

Candy!!!!

Candy!!!!

I do want to point out that the teleport I got from the search stuck me under the ground. The one I have here will put you on the ground.

2. Westeros Estates Haunted Trail (M): This came up when I searched “Trick Or Treat” but there really isn’t any candy to collect. I did see a tip jar that was shaped like a bag of gummy bears but it’s just not the same.

Despite this it’s not a bad community full of small, frightening houses for you to wander around. Think of it as a haunted neighborhood.

From a bar filled with skeletons getting their party on…

Dancing With New Friends.

Dancing With New Friends.

To a hospital that probably has a high mortality rate.

Waiting Patiently.

Waiting Patiently.

I’m sad that I didn’t get any candy here but it’s not a bad walk about.

This year didn’t bring me as much virtual candy as I crave (No calories here people) but I’m still searching for that ultimate trick or treating experience. If you know of an area that is doing a traditional trick or treating or are doing one yourself let me know. Maybe I’ll take a visit & write about it!

“Tipsy” Cerulean

I also wanted to mention that I’m helping out the Raglan Shire Trick Or Treat this year.

trickortreatmainposter

This is a really cool trick or treating experience because it takes you to various businesses as well as residential homes in the Shire sims looking for treats. Each participating location will have a candy corn to purchase for 0L as well as a sign letting you know they are a part of it this year. You can see a list of all participating locations right HERE. I recommend checking it out!

Trick Or Treating In The  Shire runs from October 25th-31st

Pumpkins, Foxes, & Cake!

The other day I got a pumpkin carousel from one of my favorite in-world residents Pieni who owns the store Cake Fox.

Hope On Board Squishy!

Hope On Board Squishy!

You can’t help but love anyone that is a Cake Fox. Foxes are awesome. Cake is awesome. Cake Foxes are double the awesome power.

The pumpkin Carousel is great because it’s mesh & only has a land impact of 10. OK…that’s not what  you really want to hear (Land impact makes people fall asleep. “Let’s talk about land impa…zzzzzz..”). What you want to hear is “Does this awesome looking carousel work?”.

We’ll I’m glad you asked! (I feel like I should be in an infomercial. I’d rock the announcer voice thing.)

It works great! Seriously this little carousel completely rocks! It’s not just for tinies but it also will work with dinkies and biggies as well. Love this little detail because most of us have friends in-world that are both big and small. I put it out at my office if anyone would like to stop in & take it for a spin.

After twirling around on my pumpkin Carousel for a while I picked up a few hats that Cake Fox has. I am a sucker for hats on SL. I’m always wearing something on my head. (Tiny Bulldogs may have fur but they don’t have luscious heads of flowing hair). The first hat I picked up is the Streampunk Top Hat With Dancing Doll. I REALLY dig anything steampunk & absolutely love this hat. I feel very jaunty in it.

piefox2

I also picked up an apple hat because they say “An Apple Hat A Day Keeps The Fashion Doctor Away”.

Mmm...Apple Hat....

Mmm…Apple Hat….

I want to thank Pie for the awesome Pumpkin Carousel & tell everyone to check out Cake Fox!

Halloween Quickie

Today I wanted to show you a few Halloween decorations as well as clothing to get your Halloween on.

Awww Yeah Baby!

Cirrus Design brings us the LJ Happy Halloween Outfit that is only 75L! An absolutely wonderful Halloween outfit that even includes the hat & shoes!  The Spooky Pathfinding Ghost from Hanaya can be found on the marketplace HERE for 299L.

Boo!

Boo!

[ContraptioN] has this wonderful Rabbisu Mask that is a 50L gacha. You don’t know what mask you will end up with but it is worth a gacha spin. It’s a really great looking bunny gas mask that makes you look both stylish  & freaky. I feel prepared to take on chemical warfare in the pink one I am wearing.

I Didn't Do It!

I Didn’t Do It!

This is a mesh mask that is made for human avatars but it does let you edit so I was able to get it to fit my big nugget. You can find the covered corpse from Xstar on the marketplace HERE for only 1L.

Hopefully this will help you on your path to Halloween Goodness!

A Pickled Haunting

Today we’re going to visit a  lovely (Can you call a haunted house “lovely”?)  traditional haunted house called PIckled Spooky (M). I’ll be honest with you. I decided to visit this place because it had the word “Pickled” in it. Doesn’t scream “I am a horror blood filled house of death” as much as it makes me think of food & people who are drunk.

Despite the fact that I now have this weird urge to drink alcoholic beverages that are garnished with pickles this is a pretty eerie looking haunted house. I don’t think it’s the blood & ghosts that do it as much as the ambient noises, cries, & screams that ice the Halloween cake. (I’m stuck on food now.) Any holiday area can slap a few ghosts into a building but what makes a place is using the right background sounds as well as a story to go with the whole package. It’s the olive in the martini. It’s not the same unless you have that olive. (I’m also thirsty.)

I like this haunted house. It feels fresh. Fresh like a trip to the farmers market.

OK. I’ll stop now.

When I first walked into the living room a voice whispered “Help Me” so, being slightly hungry & a tad bit thirsty thought that they wanted help in the kitchen. I don’t think that’s exactly what they were trying to say but I did have fun helping the cook out.

Kiss The Cooks

Kiss The Cooks

Every time I tried to take the picture the hanging corpse kept fuzzing out on me. Not the fault of Pickled Spooky. Totally the fault of SL itself. I’m at least happy that I got a great picture of myself with the cook. (Yes…he’s wearing a “Kiss The Cook” hat.)

I don’t want to ruin the background story or scares of this house so I HIGHLY recommend checking it out. Sometimes places with the strangest names will end up surprising you. I must say that Pickled Spooky (M) did just that.

“Tipsy” Cerulean

SLurl: Pickled Spooky (M)

The meat costume that I am wearing I got last Halloween from the wonderful Clover Denzo from “Totally Tinies”. It is called “Tiny Bloody Butcher Lady”. There is also a mens version as well. (You can see a picture of Bishop wearing it last year HERE) Great place to find great things!

Tinies, & Scares, & Rides…Oh My!

Tiny Ride Of Horrors (G) Opens at 2pm SLT on Sunday October 13th.

The Tinies Of The Raglan Shire have once again done it with this years opening of the  Tiny Ride Of Horrors (G). As I enter the ride a few things pass through my head.

Noooooo!

Noooooo!

Why didn’t I bring someone with me to grab onto as I scream my head off? Am I brave enough to enter? Why didn’t I bring any waffles with me to snack on?

By far the greatest ride, in my opinion, is the Tiny Ride Of Horrors that the residents of the Raglan Shire put on every year. Forget those that promise “The Greatest Ride EVER!” or those that promise to bring you chills down your spine. Hands (or paws or mitts or whatever) down they beat any ride you will see on Second Life. This is not me being bias or just saying it to be nice. It is the most creative fun I have seen this holiday season.

The Tiny Ride Of Horrors brings the scary without being overtly horrifying. They bring the scares without recycling the same garbage “Halloween Terror” you see many of the haunted houses, rides, or areas bring to you under the promise of “creativity”

Come play with us, Danny.

Come play with us, Danny.

The reason I give this Halloween ride my stamp of approval every year is because it changes with the ideas of those that bring it to us. It’s not like any other area you’ll see for the holiday. No Jason or Freddy to be found. Just brand new ideas & interpretations on what’s fun & what’s scary.

I don’t want to post a lot of photos of this wonderful area as I don’t want to ruin it for anyone. It’s just that good. The Shire ride will be open until the end of Shocktober so be sure to check it out before then. It is open to both biggie & tiny avatars so be sure to visit before it’s gone.
