Thither art a few things i cannot intermit in this ordinary. i cannot intermit the promiseth of mead, a possible peasant revolt, and the ability to weareth a coronet whenev’r possible.
You’re probably wondering a few things right now. What the hell did Tipsy just say? How did she say it? (Translator Baby) And…why is she talking like that?
It’s that time of the year again for the Raglan Shire to get their medieval on. September is a month full of ratpops, castles, things that make you feel like you walked into a ren faire mixed with Monty Python (Not a bad thing), and the possibility of finding various foods on sticks. (I happened to find a waffle, pancake, cookie, AND nachos on a stick.)
This is the 8th Annual Raglan Shire Medieval Festival and it does not feel stale like many reoccurring yearly Second Life affairs. Every year, from the various events to the decor, it gives you a feeling of ye ol’ days gone by mixed with the silly fun that only the residents of the Shire can provide.
I do want to point out that each year the Shire raises funds to support various adopted animals.

I put together a wee something for this years festival by turning my in-world office into a tavern. Come check out the Ye Ol’ Drunken Bovine!
I mentioned this in an article about things to do on the weekend in Second Life. Since this event is too much fun to pass up I wanted to really get into what the Raglan Medieval Festival (G) has to offer. I can also not pass up the opportunity to write about a festival where I get to use words like “tassets” & “cocket”.
Biggies, Tinies, & everything in between are always welcome at the Raglan Shire. The Medieval Festival is no exception. Just throw on a shiny suit of armor or a crown & you’ll fit right in. I do recommend having a tiny avatar as there are many animations & items that work just for the waffle loving short of stature.
When you first teleport in from the SLurl I’ve given you you’ll notice a small city square packed full of items to compliment your tiny lords & ladies look. There are so many things to check out that it’s hard to cram everything the square area has to offer in one paragraph, let alone one article. You can get your “Chop of their heads” on at the guillotine or try out the witch seat.
If you’re not into taking the heads off of your enemies or screaming “She’s a witch!” then you can always get your fortune told, dance, eat food on a stick, or take a ride on the wooden carousel. Just be sure to bring a serf to help you push it!
While wandering around the festival don’t forget to check the large castle. You could always go through the front door but I prefer to using the catapult in the square to hurl myself over the walls. Not into being throw hundreds of feet through the air? You can always throw a waffle or other objects instead. You have to admit that getting a group of people together to storm a castle is always great fun.
You will notice that there is a sign to teleport to the jousting area. You cannot have a medieval festival without some sort of jousting! As well as jousting you can also try your hand at ye ol’ bow & arrow. I really need to work on my aim as there are a lot of people with huge scores already.
The Raglan Medieval Festival goes until Sept. 23rd. For more information please check out their official website. There will be many events during this festival (like balls, a dragon maze, jousting & arrow tourneys, epic battles, etc) so be sure to check out their events calendar for days & times. I’m always up to walking around with anyone who needs someone to explore with them.
